Xiaomi has now confirmed when it will be launching the Redmi Turbo 5 series. Scheduled for January 29, the series will start off with the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max. Recently, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max has been the focus of leaks and by Xiaomi itself.
Now, Redmi Turbo 5 is stepping into the spotlight both officially and across various leaks. For instance, Xiaomi has shared several promotional images revealing two rear-facing cameras, a flat design and minimal display bezels. Additionally, more than a dozen Geekbench listings have highlighted what performance we should expect from the Redmi Turbo 5 when it arrives later this week.
Specifically, the Redmi Turbo 5 and its Dimensity 8500 chipset have averaged single-core and multi-core scores of 1,659 and 6,764 in Geekbench 6.5 while being paired with 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the single GPU benchmark that has emerged so far sees the Redmi Turbo 5 scoring 13,154.
As a result, it seems that the Redmi Turbo 5 will provide single-digit performance improvements compared to last year's Redmi Turbo 4. Specifically, the Redmi Turbo 5 achieves 2% single-core, 9% single-core and 7% GPU faster scores than the Dimensity 8400-powered devices we have tested so far. By extension, these scores would see the Redmi Turbo 5 roughly matching the performance of other recent Xiaomi smartphones like the Poco X7 Pro and the Xiaomi 15T (curr. $559 on Amazon).
