The Casio G-Shock DW-5000R-1AJF - which will be a tribute to the original DW-5000C from 1983 (the very first G-Shock), is slated for a late November 2024 release in Japan. Japan-based Casio news website 'Great G-Shock world' claims to have sourced this info from international watch-related bulletin boards. The model’s manual was recently spotted online as well, detailing most of its key specifications.
As covered previously, the watch features Casio’s latest Super Illuminator backlight for visibility in low light. It includes a fully automatic calendar programmed until 2099 and boasts a battery life of up to five years on a CR2016 cell. Essential functionalities such as an alarm, stopwatch, and water resistance of 200 meters are also onboard.
This release is part of Casio’s larger campaign celebrating the DW-5000C’s legacy. Rumors about the DW-5000R-1AJF first surfaced earlier this year with leaked images on Instagram. Interest seems to have surged as the official launch is coming closer.
Expected to be priced at ¥33,000 (~$214), the DW-5000R-1AJF will likely be available exclusively in Japan upon release. There's no confirmation yet on a global rollout, but we might receive more news before the end of the month.
