The Casio G-Shock GA010-1A1 and GD010-1A1 watches have been launched in the US. These gadgets first arrived in Japan in January and have also recently been released in Europe, where they are known as the GA-010-1A1 and GD-010-1A1.
The GA010-1A1 is a hybrid watch, and the GD010-1A1 is a digital model. Casio describes both versions as large-case G-Shock watches, and each offers a negative display with a dark background and light figures. On top of this, there is a central button that triggers the LED backlight so you can see the dial more easily. Another similarity is the longer 10-year battery life estimate for the single CR2025 battery.
Features of the GA010 include world time with 31 time zones to choose from and a hand shift feature that moves the hands out of the way of the digital display. There is also a 1/100-second stopwatch, five alarms and a 60-minute countdown timer. This model is priced at $120, matching the RRP of older GA-010 Series watches like the GA010-2A (curr. $117 at Amazon).
The GD010 offers the same number of time zones but allows users to select up to four cities to cycle between. Here, there is a 24-hour countdown timer alongside the 1/100-second stopwatch and the same daily alarm. This watch is cheaper at $99, again aligning with the price of its predecessors in the series.
