February is shaping to be a launch-loaded month for Casio fans, with the Vintage A130 series and the 'Master of G' collection coming soon. Adding to that, the company is set to release two new additions to its Pro Trek series in February 2025 with a special focus on eco-friendly materials and durability. The new PRG-340L-5JF and PRG-340B-3JF share the same core specifications but offer different strap materials and color schemes. Both models have sustainable elements like bio-based resins.
The PRG-340L-5JF comes equipped with a synthetic leather band in a warm brown tone. The material is treated for fire resistance, so if you're into camping and outdoor adventures that involve open flames, you can be worry-free. Meanwhile, the PRG-340B-3JF sports an olive green 'Castlon' fabric strap, a material derived from plant-based castor oil. This fabric is also flame-resistant.
Both models have a biomass plastic case and bezel, which further cuts down on environmental impact. They also feature Triple Sensor technology, including a digital compass, barometer/altimeter, and thermometer. Casio’s Tough Solar charging system means extended battery life, as the watch can harness sunlight and artificial light for power. A duplex LCD display is present for clarity. It uses a dual-layer structure, which separates compass graphics from timekeeping functions for even better visibility. Both watches have 10-bar water resistance.
The PRG-340L-5JF and PRG-340B-3JF are priced at ¥31,900 (~$206) and are now available for preorder in Japan. A wider availability should be on the cards for the future as well.
