Casio has launched the G-Shock GA-010-1A1, and GD-010-1A1 watches in Europe. These new wearables were released in Japan earlier this year as negative display variants of existing models.
The GA-010-1A1 is similar in appearance to the original GA-010-1A, with a black resin casing and matching strap. However, rather than dark figures on a light display, the watch screen is dark with light figures. Other elements, including the indices and hands, are also a darker shade. This is a digital watch with a carbon core guard structure and is waterproof up to 20 bar. You can select up to four time zones from a choice of 31, and an LED backlight helps you read the display when it's dark. Other features include a 1/100th-second stopwatch, a countdown timer and five daily alarms. Plus, Casio estimates that its battery will run for up to 10 years.
Similarly, the GD-010-1A1 looks like the older GD-010-1, with a black resin finish. However, again, there is an inverted display and black rather than light gray accents around the watch's face. The GD-010 is a hybrid digital analog watch with a hand shift function to ensure you can clearly read the digital display. Users can choose from 31 time zones, and there is the same Super Illuminator LED backlight. Again, there are tools like a 1/100th-second stopwatch, a countdown timer and alarms.
You can now buy the Casio G-Shock GA-010-1A1 and GD-010-1A1 watches in European countries like the Netherlands, Spain and France for €119.90 and €99.90, respectively. Whether or when these products could arrive in other markets like the US or the UK remains to be seen.
