Casio has launched two new Red Lantern-themed G-Shock watches in Japan. These digital DW-5600 and DW-6900 watches each have bold red and black designs, with standard features like a stopwatch and an alarm.

The Casio G-Shock Red Lantern series watches have been officially unveiled. Rumours about these Japan-inspired digital watches started earlier this year.

Now, Casio is accepting pre-orders for the G-Shock DW-5600AKA-4 and DW-6900AKA-4 watches in its home market of Japan. Each retails for ¥22,000 (~$139) and is expected to be released in this country later in April 2026.

Casio’s G-Shock Red Lantern watches are designed to look like the red paper decorations known as Akachochin, which are often found outside bars in Japan. Both the DW-5600AKA-4 and DW-6900AKA-4 have red colored resin casing and straps. There are black accents, like Japanese characters which say “shock resistant”, buttons and band loops. Plus, the LED backlight, used to illuminate the digital display, has a red tint.

The G-Shock DW-5600 is a rectangular digital watch, while the DW-6900 is a round watch with triple circle graphics above a slimmer display. Both offer features like a 1/100th second stopwatch, a timer and an alarm, as well as 200 m water resistance.

At the time of writing, there has been no indication that the Casio G-Shock DW-5600AKA-4 and DW-6900AKA-4 watches will be released in other markets. However, the company has historically released other Japan-themed watches, like the Hokusai inspired DW-5600KHK25-1 (curr. €119 at Casio Store) in countries like Germany, the UK and the US.
