Casio's new Japan-made Vintage wave-patterned watches now official

Casio has now officially listed its new A159 wave-pattern models, following up to recent leaks around the A159WEVJ-2 and A159WEVJ-7. The watches are launching under the brand’s Vintage lineup and there's an April 2026 release window.
The update is mostly visual. Both models feature Seigaiha-style wave motifs across the dial - a traditional Japanese pattern made up of repeating arcs. The blue A159WEVJ-2 uses a deep indigo tone, while the A159WEVJ-7 comes in a more toned-down silver-grey finish. Casio states that the dial uses both printed elements and vapor deposition, which is why it gets a slight shimmer-y look.
Core specifications are identical to the standard A159. The case measures 36.8 × 33.2 × 8.5 mm and weighs around 45 grams. It uses a resin case with chrome plating, which is paired with a stainless-steel bracelet. Features include a 1/100-second stopwatch, daily alarm, hourly signal, auto calendar, and LED backlight. Battery life is rated at around seven years using a CR2016 cell, and water resistance stays basic.
Also, there's another unique, thematic touch. The caseback includes "Casio" in both English and katakana, and the packaging has the same wave motif seen on the dial. Casio also adds that that the models are made in Japan, specifically at its Yamagata facility. Interestingly, images of the caseback engraving weren't available on the listing as of writing.
All this will likely mean that these two models will secure a higher price tag than its peers with similar spec sheets. For now, there's no pricing info included with the listing. Earlier estimates did place these around the $100 mark, but that info should be taken with a grain of salt. They'll both be available to buy this month (April 2026) itself.
