Casio is now officially selling the G-Shock DW5600UE-1 in place of the DW5600E-1V. The company recently updated the product listing at its online store in the US to show images and the specifications of the DW5600UE-1. While the product name is still currently “DW5600E-1V”, a disclaimer on the page informs customers that “the product’s name may differ on packaging due to an upgraded module.”
The Casio G-Shock DW5600UE-1, which arrived in Japan at the end of 2023, is very similar to the earlier DW5600E-1V. The main difference is that the newer version swaps the 3229 module for a 3525 module. As such, the DW5600UE-1 features an LED backlight rather than the electroluminescent (EL) backlight used on the older model. Due to this change in technology, the battery life estimate has increased from two to five years. The price of the DW5600UE-1 is $99.95, a $25 increase on the $74.95 RRP of the DW5600E-1V.
The DW5600UE-1 has already been sold in the US through other channels, such as the Casio Amazon storefront. However, it is currently out of stock here. Other third-party retailers, such as Walmart, have also been shipping the DW-5600UE-1 to customers who purchase the DW5600E-1V. It is worth checking recent user reviews at any retailer to see which version is stocked. The Casio G-Shock DW5600UE-1 has also been available in European markets like the UK, the Netherlands and France for some time.
