Blackview is known for making Android devices of the highly durable variety, a category that typically involves mid-range SoCs at best. However, the OEM has revealed that its upcoming BL8000 is going more premium in that respect. It will debut with the brand-new MediaTek Dimensity 1200, which incorporates ARM Cortex-A78 cores also seen in the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100.
Then again, the 1200 lacks these flagship chipsets' Cortex-X1, which means it might be more of a rival for 2020's Snapdragon 865. Nevertheless, Blackview is confident that the 1200 will help a user get the most out of their 5G toughphone experience.
The company also asserts that it will be the first to launch a rugged smartphone based on this 6nm processor. Then again, it is not the only OEM with similar plans. Ulefone is also tipped to launch the Armor 12, also based on the 1200, in mid-2021.
Neither it or Blackview has revealed much about the specs of their respective high-end outdoor phones, however, besides revealing that they have 12GB of RAM (with 256GB of internal storage in the Ulefone model). If the BL6000 Pro is anything to go by, one or both might have at least 3 rear cameras, FHD+ displays with the potential for high refresh rates and large batteries.
