Sporting a massive 8,380 mAh battery with 33 W fast charge and a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, the Blackview BL8800 and BL8800 Pro are only set apart by the cameras on the back. While the BL8800 comes with a night vision image snapper, its Pro sibling features a FLIR thermal imaging camera.

Introduced earlier this month, the latest two rugged handsets by Blackview, namely the BL8800 and BL8800 Pro are now available for ordering from most countries in the world via AliExpress and other online retailers. Sadly, the early bird discount period has just ended, so the prices are now starting at US$349.99 and US$429.99 (depending on the market and retailer, the final figures might vary by quite a bit).

The highlights of these two rugged handsets include the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, 8/128 GB of memory/internal storage, IP68, IP69K, as well as MIL-STD-810H protection ratings, glove mode, night vision (BL8800) and FLIR thermal imaging (BL8800 Pro), a massive 8,280 mAh battery (although 33 W fast charging is supported, the time required to reach a full charge from a battery level of about 10 percent will still exceed two hours), Android 11 with Doke OS 3.0 UI on top.

In addition to the above, any potential buyer should also consider that the BL8800 lineup uses a 3D copper pipe liquid cooling system that ensures excellent heat dissipation. The IPS LCD panel used for the display is made by JDI and provides a screen size of 6.58 inches, a resolution of 1,080 X 2,408 pixels, and a brightness level of 480 nits. A handy customizable button is also present, located on the left side of the phone.

The BL8800 and BL8800 Pro are available in Mecha Orange, Navy Green, and Conquest Black. While they are not the first ones to offer a night vision image snapper or a FLIR thermal imaging camera as advertised, they are a welcome addition to a niche of the market populated by products from brands like CAT, Doogee, AGM, Oukitel, and a few others.
