The Infinix Note 12 series lands in India with some caveats

Infinix has launched its Note 12 series for the Indian market via the medium of new Flipkart listings, complete with a tie-in to the new Doctor Strange movie. However, those hoping for this Android smartphone line's latest variants, one of which has 120W charging, may be slightly disappointed. The Note 12 and 12 Turbo do have AMOLED displays, albeit ones driven by a 2-year-old MediaTek processor.

Infinix has now debuted one of its newest lines of Android smartphones in the Indian market. It seems the OEM has partnered with Marvel Studios for this launch, as it now features a Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness theme on its new Flipkart pages. Unfortunately, it does not really detract from the lack of top-end, "VIP" specs.

It is apparent that the latest Infinix phones for the Indian market are not the Note 12 variants as most recently announced for other regions. Quite apart from the difference in camera humps (which are most like that of the Realme GT Neo 3), both new models now found on Flipkart have 33W charging, rather than the 120W HyperCharge technology of the VIP flagship.

In fact, the only things that set the higher-end 12 Turbo apart are an extra 2GB of RAM (to make it the only 8GB option) and a different selection of colorways (Force Black and Snowfall, as opposed to Force Black and Jewel Blue in the vanilla 12).

Then again, both SKUs have 6.7-inch AMOLED displays - however, there is no mention of a 120Hz refresh rate here. They are both powered by the Helio G88 SoC, rather than the newer G96 of the newer options launched elsewhere.

The Infinix Note 12 starts at INR 11,999 (~US$155), whereas the 12 Turbo is priced at INR 14,999 (~$193). To date, there is no word on whether the Note 12 (G96) and VIP will join them on Flipkart or elsewhere in India.
