Outdoor smartphone Blackview BV9700 Pro has great weaknesses
An outdoor smartphone with lots of certifications, 6 GB of RAM and a 128-GB storage capacity sounds great. If these features are combined with a promising Mediatek Helio P70 as well as an ARM Mali G72 MP3, fans of robust phones might prick up their ears. The device is available for around $450 and even includes additional sensors for measuring the heart rate and air purity. These sensors and the device itself do a very good job in our review and the case is solid.
But when one of our users mentioned something we had already felt funny about, we became suspicious: While the render image on the manufacturer's website shows a display that covers the front of the device almost entirely, we saw a significantly wider bezel on the test unit in our hands. Particularly the bottom chin is a whole centimeter wider than on the image - as buyers only realize once they unbox their phone. We could still forgive this trick if the 5,84-inch display size cited in the technical specifications was correct. But it's not.
It didn't take us long to measure the actual screen size of only 5,66 inches - obviously the information on the data sheet was false. While it is known by now that buyers of affordable Chinese smartphones from certain manufacturers don't always get the fastest compontents, at least so far the specifications always told the truth. Find out what other weaknesses and strenghts the Blackview BV9700 Pro has in our review.
