Last week, Ayaneo shared new details about its long-awaited Next II gaming handheld. As we discussed at the time, the Next II originally debuted in mid-2022. Since then, it has undergone numerous changes like full redesigns and fundamental processor architecture switches.
Despite the time elapsed, Ayaneo is still only teasing that the Next II is 'coming soon'. Nonetheless, a recent Frandroid video indicates that Ayaneo is almost ready to launch its much-delayed gaming handheld. Embedded below, the same video highlights the sheer scale of the Next II, too.
By the looks of things the Next II could surpass the size of the Kun, Ayaneo's largest gaming handheld to date. Spanning 325 mm across while being 140 mm tall with an 8.4-inch display, the Kun is considerably larger than popular gaming handhelds like the ROG Ally series, the Steam Deck and even the Legion Go S (curr. $693 on Amazon) despite the latter featuring an 8-inch display.
Given that the Kun weighs over 900 g, we doubt that the Next II will come in at much under a kilo either. With that being said, the Next II will use its bulk to house an AMD Strix Halo APU like the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, just like the OneXFly Apex and GPD Win 5. Please see our prior article for more details about Ayaneo's next large form factor handheld.
