Following a new leak, marketing before The Super Mario Galaxy Movie release date may not offer as many surprises. Of all things, Pillsbury cookie dough reveals unconfirmed characters (spoilers below). Tops Friendly Markets has posted a photo of the packaging, which showcases a unique art style.
The retailer likely listed the edible merchandise prematurely. On the front of the box, buyers see Yoshi next to an egg-shaped sugar cookie. His presence is not shocking, considering the brief cameo in the credits for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Mario is also flying through space, with what seems to be Rosalina’s observatory in the background.
On the back of the packaging, Mario is riding on the back of his dinosaur pal. With a map of the galaxy, buyers can plot a course around several planets. In one corner, an icon for Bowser Jr. appears, suggesting the villain's son will play a role in the Nintendo film.
Fans have been anticipating more information about the production. Recently, a report hinted that a new The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer would accompany Wicked: For Good. The Universal Pictures sequel to the musical fantasy will debut on November 21st.
Apparently, Nintendo’s promotion for its film will be extensive. A July Old Spice deodorant leak now seems more valid, considering it featured similar artwork. So far, gamers aren’t convinced by the changes. Some fans prefer the design of Mario and Yoshi in the Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 Switch remaster.
The Pillsbury leak and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie plot
The expected plot of the Nintendo movie also matches up with the Pillsbury cookie dough packaging. In a familiar scenario, the plumber would traverse space in search of a kidnapped Princess Peach. Chris Pratt will return to voice Mario, joined by cast members Anya-Taylor Joy as the Princess and Jack Black as Bowser.
Viewers will have to wait to see who will play the Yoshi or Bowser Jr characters, if they are indeed in the film. Still, a new trailer could be imminent ahead of the April 2026 The Super Mario Galaxy Movie release date. According to a Japanese interview with Shigeru Miyamoto covered by the Video Games Chronicle, production is nearly complete.
