Physical copies of Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 for the Nintendo Switch have already made it to the usual suspects just a few days before the game’s official release on October 2, 2025.
Collectors and fans who managed to get a hold of the bundle have already shared the game’s cover art and interior packaging on social media, showing an updated render of Mario in mid-jump poses against a cosmic backdrop glittering with glowing stars, Lumas, and planets, all printed in high quality.
ForeverPhysical shared the artwork on X and stated, “Heads up! This is what the inside box art and cartridge looks like for Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2!” accompanied by photos showing the cartridge held in a clear holder.
The collection bundles enhanced remasters of the beloved Wii-era games Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, featuring visual overhauls and quality-of-life tweaks to seamlessly play the game on the Nintendo Switch. Both titles reportedly run at a crisp 1080p resolution on the Nintendo Switch. A free upgrade pack promises native 4K support for the Nintendo Switch 2, alongside refined on-screen menus for better accessibility.
The Switch version now features an Assist mode, which is designed to welcome new players by offering extra health and simplified recovery mechanics during Mario’s galaxy-hopping ventures. Alongside this is the addition of new features like expanded Storybook chapters that dive deeper into Super Mario Galaxy’s lore, a dedicated Soundtrack mode to relive the game’s orchestral scores, and amiibo integration for the new Super Mario Galaxy Amiibo lineup.
The Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 bundle is priced at $69.99 or $39.99 if the games are bought individually. These titles originally launched on the Wii in 2007 and 2010. Both Galaxy titles were critically praised for their ingenious level design, innovative gravity-based mechanics, and catchy soundtracks, which propelled the Mario franchise to new heights in the Nintendo Wii’s heyday, hailing them as two of the greatest 3D Mario games ever created.
With a few days till launch, early adopters report that gameplay footage could flood online at any moment. First-time players looking to play the game without any spoilers may want to consider filtering some keywords on social media to avoid finding footage that has already begun surfacing on multiple platforms.
