AMD has finally announced the latest budget entry in the Ryzen 7000X3D series of desktop CPUs, the Ryzen 5 7500X3D. It is essentially a toned-down version of the Ryzen 5 7600X3D that launched last year and gives gamers another affordable option that competes with the Core Ultra 245KF and the Core i5 14600K. Compared to the Intel counterparts, it is a bit more expensive, but AMD claims improved performance than both at 1080p.
AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D specifications
Based on the previous generation Zen 4 architecture, the Ryzen 5 7500X3D features six cores and 12 threads with up to 4.5 GHz boost clock speed. While the core count is the same as the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, the clock speeds are slightly slower. The L3 cache, however, is the same at 96 MB, which makes these X3D CPUs great for gaming. The 7500X3D has a default TDP of 65W and supports up to 128 GB of memory, as well as PCIe 5.0.
As for performance, on average, the AMD offering is 13% faster in AAA games like Black Myth Wukong, Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza Horizon 5, and Baldur’s Gate 3, compared to the Core Ultra 245K. It is also 22% faster in competitive games like VALORANT, League of Legends, Rainbow Six: Siege, Counter Strike 2, and DOTA 2.
Similarly, when compared to the Core i5 14600K, AMD claims the Ryzen 5 7500X3D is 8% faster in AAA and 12% faster in competitive games.
AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D pricing
The Ryzen 5 7500X3D is priced at $269, making it the cheapest X3D processor on the market. At the time of writing, it is only available as part of a prebuilt gaming PC from PowerSpec on Micro Center. In comparison, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is currently going for $310. The Intel counterparts are a bit cheaper with the Core Ultra 245KF currently priced at $219 (typically retails between $290 and $305) and the Core i5 14600K priced at $210.
