CES 2024 | Asus TUF Gaming A16 repackaged with Zen 4 HX CPU and GeForce RTX 4070

Last year's Asus TUF Gaming A16 was an all-AMD show with a Ryzen 7000 series processor and Radeon RX 7600S GPU. This time, Asus has made the switch to Nvidia hardware, understandably so, given how well Ada Lovelace performs under tight power budgets. The new Asus TUF Gaming A16 replaces the somewhat-power-limited HS CPU with a beefier HX version.

It uses an AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX, one of the best laptop CPUs had to offer last generation, and pairs it with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 (140 W). Memory and storage are capped at 32 GB DDR5 5,200 and 2 TB PCIe Gen4. Interestingly, Asus doesn't include a USB 4.0 port on the laptop and uses two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C ports instead. The remaining I/O is as follows: two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, a HDMI 2.1 port, a combo audio jack and gigabit ethernet.

The Asus TUF Gaming A16's screen is identical to that of the TUF Gaming F16. Its 16-inch panel comes in FHD (1,920 x 1,080) and QHD (2,560 x 1,440) flavours, both with a 165 Hz refresh rate and 3 ms response time. Other specs include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 90 Wh battery. Asus says it will reveal the laptop's price and availability later.
