Aokzoe has finally released its A1X gaming handheld, just as it is preparing to introduce its alternative to the GMKtec EVO-X2 (curr. $1,499 on Amazon). To recap, the company brought its latest gaming handheld to Kickstarter in the spring. Subsequently, it outlined when the A1X would be available generally, which it has surpassed by almost a week.
At the time of writing, Aokzoe charges $899 for the A1X in its base form. While this SKU includes features like an 8-inch VRR display and a 72.7 Wh battery, it misses out on AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU. Instead, Aokzoe includes the Ryzen 7 8840U with its Radeon 780M iGPU. Although still powerful, the Ryzen 7 8840U lacks the performance and efficiency gains that AMD has introduced with its Strix Point generation.
Unfortunately, Aokzoe has priced the jump from the Ryzen 7 8840U to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 at $239. Likewise, configuring the A1X with 64 GB of RAM currently runs to $1,599. Nonetheless, all Aokzoe A1X SKUs feature OCuLink connectivity for adding an eGPU. At the time of writing, Aokzoe hopes to begin shipping orders on July 16. Please see the company’s website and our original launch article for more hardware details.
