This laptop is a better version of the last model of the Acer Aspire 5 family that already was a great value. The SSD helps this notebook to perform fast, it boots and turns on quickly. The Wi-Fi 6, backlit keyboard, and Fingerprint sensor are great additions. In short, if you are looking for a new 10th Gen Intel laptop for your basic computing needs, I’d choose this 15.6″ A515-55-35SE. The Acer Aspire 5 A515-55-35SE is a good laptop for everyone, especially for PC beginners. Thin, lightweight, and aluminum covers are not-cheap looks. The 10th Generation of Intel CPU, SSD, and 4GB RAM allow this laptop to deliver decent performance for daily computing tasks. For this price, you can't go wrong with it.

In this edition, the Acer Aspire 5 is a computer that provides plenty of computing power for very little money. With 16 gigabytes of RAM, you can run so many concurrent programs that few will experience bottlenecks. Regardless of the Radeon name, the graphics are slow and games should be avoided. The screen is the place where you most clearly feel the low price. But as a workhorse for the (home) office or for study use, it is an excellent purchase. And should you go further down in price, the alternative is likely to be a Chromebook.

We are impressed with this notebook. Acer has made good inexpensive laptops on their Acer Aspire 5 lineups. The aluminum top cover, IPS Full-HD panel, and a Windows precision trackpad at this price are awesome features. Moreover, you will also miss the backlit keyboard and the Fingerprint sensor on other laptops at this price tag. And the option to be able to upgrade is a great addition. Overall, this Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K is a capable thin laptop with many extra features.

If you’re looking for an affordable laptop for work and college, you’re getting a good deal with this Acer Aspire 5. The capable, middle-of-the-line AMD Ryzen 3 and integrated graphics can handle the work you need to get done. And while you’ll take a few days to get used to the touchpad, the comfortable, backlit full-size keyboard makes typing away college assignments and business spreadsheets a breeze. Parents looking for a laptop for their kid will be disappointed by the battery life, however, with today’s remote-learning, that isn’t a deal-breaker. That’s just something to consider along with the Aspire 5’s appealing price tag. As this Acer Aspire 5 review has shown, there are a few caveats to remember, but without performance-limiting issues, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K is a laptop you’d want to invest in.

For about 600 Euros (~$687), the Acer Aspire 5 A515-45 offers a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor. However, the rest of the configuration, including an AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 and 8 GB of RAM, thwart the plans of the elegant, quiet, and cool laptop in terms of many benchmarks, as our test shows.

It's not a fool's errand to find a reasonably capable 15.6-inch Windows laptop with a street price under $500, but the AMD-based Aspire 5 brings no pleasant surprises except perhaps its wide array of ports. Its performance, keyboard, and especially its screen are all underwhelming for all but the most basic tasks, outdone by contemporaries that don't cost too much more. If your budget simply won't stretch to a better-equipped model, like the Core i5 unit we tested recently, you might want to consider a Chromebook instead.

The latest Acer Aspire 5 laptop isn’t a game-changer, but it gets the job done well (with reason). Its design is all too familiar and its Ryzen 5 processor, though new in the market, won’t blow you away with its performance. But the Acer Aspire 5 price is a boon for most budget buyers looking for Full HD screen, and it serves up a solid design and has enough power to get the job done. Anything from writing up a report, video chatting with family or Netflix binge, it won’t disappoint at all. However, if you’re looking for more power, longer battery life and a better screen, the LG Gram 17Z90P is a great choice, with a WQXGA (2560×1600) screen, over 17 hours battery life, an intel evo 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD and includes Thunderbolt 4. You’ll pay slightly more for the sleek design and added power, but it’s worth every dollar you spend. That said, if all you need is a laptop that can handle remote or in-person learning and work, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-45-R74Z is a good choice.

Acer did a good job with the cooling of this laptop. Indeed, it might be an overkill for the Core i3 model, like ours, but you have to keep in mind that Intel’s 12th Gen is really capable if you provide it with the right cooling. So, if you want a good laptop suitable for your everyday needs, and coming with an appetizing price tag, the Aspire 5 (A515-57) is a very viable choice. Keep in mind that even the Core i3-1215U has more than enough power for your needs.

If you don’t want to play that waiting game, you can currently find Aspire Vero models priced well below the $500 mark — and they offer a fairly similar package to this system, including the same processor. Those who can deal with a smaller screen should check out the Gateway 14 (the very blue, cow-spotted computer I’ve been recommending to anyone who will listen since I reviewed it). Those who might be down for Chrome OS will have a good 15-inch experience with the similarly-priced Asus Chromebook CX5, which also provides excellent battery life, better audio, and a rock-solid chassis. It even has a numpad.

Okay, that brings me to the end of this review. I believe it’s an easy recommendation for students or freshers who are looking for a reliable daily driver on a budget. First and foremost, the Intel Core i5-1235U CPU brings significant performance gains over its predecessor. And things like Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 6E are hard to find on a 600-dollar laptop too. You can even upgrade the memory down the line in case your workflow ever gets more intense. But that’s not to say it is without flaws—especially in terms of the build quality and display. You can definitely find last-gen laptops with better specs in this regard, but that means they miss out on that sweet-sweet 12th Gen power.

I think that Acer has put a lot of great stuff into the Aspire 5. If you want a big screen with plenty of RAM and SSD space for not a lot of money, this could be a great pick. DIY upgrades can also keep your Aspire chugging down the road, which I wish more laptop makers would consider when designing mass-market models like this. There are some clear downsides, however. The weak battery life and mediocre display and keyboard marred the experience. But when writing this summary, I can’t help but feel that the Aspire 5 is less than the sum of its parts. You miss out on so much of the modern PC experience—from Windows Hello biometric log-in to a touchscreen to all-day battery life. These are minor additions that can truly change the way you use your computer. At the $600 price, it’s stuck between some cheaper big-screen options (Dell’s Inspiron 3000 15 starts at $449) that, for an average user, might offer an indistinguishable day-to-day experience. Then if you can stretch your budget, you’re nearly in premium laptop territory (HP Envys and refurbished MacBook Air M1s can both cost as little as $849).

The 2022 Acer Aspire 5 fixes two of the previous generation’s most glaring weaknesses. It equips a much better display, and its performance is significantly better. It’s also more expensive, without the same low-cost option. While its battery life is below average and its build quality isn’t the best, it’s a much better value even at its $700 retail price. Get it on sale for $600, and I can recommend it as a well-performing laptop with a display that meets a productivity user’s needs.

On paper, the Aspire 5 A515-57G is a very interesting laptop. For instance, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 is a rather uncommon graphics card. However, Acer messed up an otherwise good idea through unnecessary blunders and conscious cost-cutting measures.

Made to tread the line between budget and midrange laptops, the Acer Aspire 5 has a tightrope to walk, balancing an affordable price and capable features. The latest version handles that balance fairly well, though there are some rough spots that are hard to ignore, like the lackluster display and missing biometric and touch-screen features. But on the whole, it delivers what the Aspire line has always promised, a better-than-bare-bones laptop for consumers on tight budgets. Whether you're looking for performance that edges out other economy laptops or a port selection that lets you leave the hubs and dongles at home, the 2022 Aspire 5 hits those marks. It's a strong option for a solid laptop that won't cost you a fortune.

This generation of the Acer Aspire 5 refines on its predecessors with a slight update in design and practicality, and a more notable update in specs and internal cooling. Unfortunately, Acer haven't updated the display in the same manner, and only seem to offer basic-level IPS panels for this series, the kind that might not suffice in 2022. The audio quality isn't much here, either, but overall the series remains a serious contender in the budget class of full-size all-purpose laptops.

The Aspire 5 has several features that you shouldn't automatically expect for the price including Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, the option to add a second SSD and upgrade the RAM and a discrete Nvidia GPU. The expansive keyboard will be a boon to office workers while the range of ports is very wide by modern standards: I'm struggling to remember the last time I found an RJ45 port on a non-gaming laptop. In the negative column, you have to put up with a very basic display, a slightly bouncy keyboard and pretty average battery life. Still, at £750 exc VAT it is difficult not to see the Aspire 5 as solid value for money.

The latest Acer Aspire 5 laptop isn’t a game-changer, but it gets the job done well (with reason). Its design is all too familiar and its Ryzen 7 processor, though new in the market, won’t blow you away with its performance. That said, if all you need is a laptop that can handle remote or in-person learning and work, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3CZ is a good choice.

The Acer Aspire 5, in many aspects, stands as a testament to what a mid-range laptop can offer. Its build quality, I/O support, and performance metrics, especially with the Intel 13th Gen Core i5-1335U processor and 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, are commendable. However, not everything in my Acer Aspire 5 is rosy. The display, with its low peak brightness and colour inaccuracies, is a significant letdown. This might be a deal-breaker for professionals who rely on colour accuracy for their work. Additionally, the speakers, while average for its price range, could have been better, especially given the display’s shortcomings. In conclusion, the Acer Aspire 5 is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable work or mainstream laptop with a strong performance backbone. However, if display quality is paramount or if your tasks are heavily reliant on colour accuracy, you might want to explore other options. For everyday tasks, light multimedia consumption, and standard office work, the Acer Aspire 5 fits the bill, but professionals, especially those in graphic design or video editing, might want to tread cautiously.

In conclusion, the Acer Aspire 5 2023 Edition is an excellent budget notebook for anyone who’s looking for reliable performance at a budget price point. The Intel Core i5-1335U, coupled with fast DDR5 RAM, exudes confidence in its capability. But despite having that, Aspire 5 does have its drawbacks in design, build, and display quality. This is where something like the IdeaPad Slim 3 thrives but again you’d be making a different set of tradeoffs there. But paired with good battery life and freedom for future upgrades, Aspire 5 (2023) is still an appealing option for those looking for value. So, this can be a good option for college students, office workers, or any general user looking for a powerful day-to-day laptop without breaking the bank.

The Acer Aspire 5 A515-58M-7570 is a well-rounded laptop with a robust set of features, portability, and performance for a very reasonable price. Its mid-tier processor, plenty of ports, and comfortable keyboard make it a practical choice among midrange productivity laptops for office users or college-level workloads. For accomplishing office tasks quickly and efficiently, the Aspire 5 is a good choice but it’s not the only choice for less than $1000. The Asus ZenBook 14X OLED is a better alternative, which, for a few hundred more, offers a 14.5-inch 3K (2880 x 1800) touchscreen, a better Intel Core i7-13700H processor, a backlit keyboard and 1TB SSD storage. And its body feels and looks more premium than what you’re getting with the Aspire 5. However, if you need to save the much as you can but still need a laptop that can handle most productivity tasks like a champ, the Acer Aspire 5 is a great laptop. The battery will last an entire workday, and you can upgrade its storage if you need to in the future.

If you need a capable and affordable device, the Acer Aspire 5 (A515-58M) can offer a great bang for the buck. The optional 1440p panel (BOE NE156QHM-N61 (BOE0AFE)) is a nice surprise in the budget category. It has a 90% sRGB color coverage and comfortable viewing angles. The display is PWM-free and thanks to our “Design and Gaming” profile it’s color accuracy is seriously boosted from 6.8 to an average dE value of 1.3 which is a great achievement. The snappy pixel response time of just 10 ms is fast and since the iGPU can handle light games on Low and Medium details you can use this laptop for unpretentious gaming.

Moreover, it can be used both at the desk and on the move. Though the Aspire 5 can do many things, it is not outstanding in any particular category. If you’re looking for something specific – be it for working on the go, gaming, performance-intensive tasks or simply something more stylish – you’ll be better off with a different laptop.

The Acer Aspire 5 (A515-48M) is a pleasant surprise in the budget category. The laptop comes with a modern non-intrusive design with rounded edges. The build quality is above average – during harsh typing the base remains stable. We observed some bends on the lid here and there but nothing too serious. Speaking of the lid, it houses an IPS 1080p display (at least in our case) and a 1080p Web camera. The panel has comfortable viewing angles and it’s also PWM-free which makes the laptop suitable for a daily driver. The keyboard is comfortable for typing with its decent key travel and clicky feedback. The board has a NumPad and a backlight which is very useful for working in a dimmed environment. The touchpad has a smooth surface and it’s fast and accurate, plus it makes room for an optional fingerprint reader.

In conclusion, the Acer Aspire 5 A515 is a good choice for anyone looking for a gaming laptop that does not break the bank. It offers a decent performance, a large and matte screen, a standard keyboard with a number pad, and a spacious touchpad. It also has enough storage and memory to run most games and applications smoothly. However, it is not without its drawbacks. The plastic body can get hot when playing games, the graphics card is not very advanced, and the battery life is not very impressive. Therefore, this laptop may not be suitable for those who want to play the latest games with the highest settings or need a long-lasting battery. The Acer Aspire 5 A515 is a well-priced gaming laptop that meets the minimum requirements of a gaming laptop, but it is not a high-end gaming laptop.

The Acer Aspire 5 (A515-58P) is a budget device that is suitable for home or office usage if you get one with an IPS panel. The performance is also sufficient for things like Web browsing or editing MS Office documents. The Core i3-1315U of our machine isn’t exactly a powerhouse but its P and E cores boost pretty high to ~ 3.60 GHz / 2.70 GHz in short and medium loads and to 3.05 GHz / 2.24 GHz in longer stress. We didn’t experience any system hiccups while testing the machine. The 1080p IPS display (B156HAN02.1 (AUO76A8)) isn’t impressive but that’s not a needed thing for such a laptop. The panel is PWM-free and has wide wing angles. That’s all you need for standard work. The 1500:1 contact ratio is good while both sRGB coverage and max brightness are low. The Acer Aspire 5 is a good choice for users who don’t want to spend a whole fortune on a laptop for casual usage. It offers adequate performance, long battery life, a replaceable Wi-Fi card, and a future-proof max RAM amount of 32GB.
