AOC has released a new gaming monitor, dubbed the Q27G4SMN. As the name, or rather model number suggests, the monitor features a 27-inch panel. To be specific, a Fast VA panel is utilized which grants the product deeper blacks and fast response times.
Peak HDR brightness maxes out at an impressive 1,200 nits, and SDR brightness peaks at a respectable 450 nits. Thanks to its mini LED backlight, a total of 1,152 dimming zones are present which allow excellent contrast levels. Whether or not the gaming monitor will be able to manage blooming remains to be seen, and can only be established after reviewers get their hands on the product.
The AOC gaming monitor features a resolution of 2560 x 1440, along with a refresh rate of 300 Hz. AOC also boasts solid color reproduction performance, courtesy of a claimed 97% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making it a decent choice for "creator by day, gamer by night" folks. With a ΔE lower than 2, color accuracy should be perfectly respectable as well.
Ergonomic adjustment options include tilt, swivel, and 90-degree pivot. A VESA mounting option is also present, which is hardly a surprise. Connectivity options for the Q27G4SMN gaming monitor include dual HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and audio out. That said, poor viewing angles have long plagued VA panels, which might put off certain buyers.
The monitor has already been listed on AOC's official website in China, although exact pricing and availability details are unclear as of this writing.
Possible alternative: 27-inch Asus TUF 1440p, 300 Hz gaming monitor with Fast IPS panel (currently $159 on Amazon)
