AM01: Chic mini PC with two Ryzen APUs now officially available
For the first time, the AM01 is now officially available outside of crowdfunding campaigns and can be ordered directly from the manufacturer. Buyers have a relatively large selection of different configurations to choose from, but not all of them are available. Specifically, customers can order the AM01 with both an AMD Ryzen 5 3200U and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U, resulting in significant differences in performance. However, the AM01 is likely to be more suitable for office applications or media consumption than for gaming.
The mini PC can be ordered with 8, 16 or 32 GB of RAM and an SSD with 256 and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. Alternatively, the AM01 can also be purchased as a barebone and therefore without RAM and SSD. The system, which measures 132 x 132 x 64.5 mm and weighs 486 grams, can even be used with a 2.5-inch hard drive or SSD via a bracket. The SSD is of the M.2 2280 format, whereby both PCIe 3.0 and SATA SSDs are supported.
Quite a few ports are available. There are two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A ports, plus one USB 2.0 port. One USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C port is also on board, although this port does not support the transmission of image signals. For this, there is HDMI 2.0 and Display 1.4. For network connections, there is Gigabit Ethernet or WiFi 6.
The entry-level price is quoted at $199, with no additional shipping costs, but buyers should inform themselves about possible import taxes. Only a few model versions are currently available.
