Back in December last year, Geekom unveiled three powerful mini computers. Among them were the Geekom A8 Max and A8 Pro. Now, the company is planning to launch the regular version of the A8 mini PC. It will come with AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, a high-end processor from the latest Hawk Point lineup.
Reportedly, the system will feature a familiar form factor, measuring 11.7 cm in width and 3.42 cm in thickness. The computer has an M.2 slot that can hold a PCIe 4.0 SSD and another SATA3 connector for equipping it with a regular storage drive. As for memory, it can be equipped with up to 64 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM running at dual-channel.
There is a generous number of connectivity ports on the Geekom A8 mini PC. That includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 2.0 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, and most importantly, a full-fledged USB4 connector. The last port opens the door to connect the system with an eGPU to get a proper gaming experience.
Speaking of which, the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS that this mini computer equips can run at 45-watt. That, combined with the AMD Radeon 780M iGPU, makes the system more than capable of running most of the modern games by itself (32/512 GB MINISFORUM UM780 XTX gaming mini PC curr. $559.90 on Amazon). Of course, it’s not yet clear how Geekom will configure the processor for this mini PC.
Other highlights of the Geekom A8 mini PC include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a robust cooling setup. There’s no official word on the pricing yet, but it reportedly will soon be available at around $799.
