MINISFORUM releases new NAB6 Lite mini-PC with USB Type-C port
MINISFORUM has updated its Venus Series once again, having announced the Venus Series NAB9 (curr. $469 on Amazon) towards the end of March. As we remarked at the time, the NAB9 serves as a more powerful alternative to the NAB6 and NAB7. It has now replaced the NAB7 with the NAB6 Lite, though, which also serves as the series' new entry-level option.
Incidentally, MINISFORUM now advertises the NAB6 as the mid-tier option between the NAB6 and NAB9. As for the NAB6 Lite, it relies on the Core i5-12600H, which has more CPU cores than the Core i7-12650H that powers the NAB6. With that being said, the Core i5-12600H has fewer performance cores and more efficiency cores than the Core i7-12650H.
Moreover, the Core i5-12600H has a weaker iGPU with 80 Execution Units (EUs) than the Core i7-12650H (64 EUs). As such, the NAB6 should outperform the NAB6 Lite in many tasks. Accordingly, the NAB6 Lite is cheaper than the NAB6 at $279 as a barebones unit. However, MINISFORUM states that the cheapest model is out of stock at the time of writing. Instead, the NAB6 Lite starts at $367 with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Alternatively, the mini-PC can be ordered with 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for $407. For reference, the NAB6 Lite comes with the following ports, regardless of the memory configuration chosen:
- 1x 3.5 mm combo jack
- 1x Clear CMOS
- 1x DMIC
- 2x HDMI
- 2x 2.5 Gigabit RJ45
- 4x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (Data only)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (Data/DisplayPort Alt Mode/Power Delivery)
