AYANEO Retro Mini PC AM01 and AM02 showcased as new retro-inspired mini-PCs
AYANEO has had a busy week, with the company revealing the Pocket DMG while providing more information about the FLIP series and SLIDE. Additionally, it has presented the Retro Mini PC series, which it has showcased in two variants. As the images below show, AYANEO has designed the AM01 and AM02 with late 80s devices in mind, albeit with modern internals.
Seemingly, the Retro Mini PC AM01 takes after old Macintosh models like the Macintosh Plus thanks to is off-white housing and elements designed to represent a display and a floppy disk drive slot. By contrast, the Retro Mini PC AM02 resembles a Nintendo NES, albeit with a small display where a cartridge would have been inserted. Inexplicably, the AM01 lacks a secondary display, despite being the more obvious candidate for one.

At any rate, both mini-PCs have been built to lie down, making the AM01's Macintosh-inspired design somewhat decorative. AYANEO has not outlined specifications for either machine yet. However, Liliputing spotted the company briefly showing the Ryzen 3 3200U and Ryzen 7 5700U for the pair on its forum post, which would be unusual choices for mini-PCs likely targeting a 2024 release.
With that said, they may point to AYANEO including low-powered options in the AM01 and AM02 than its gaming handhelds like the Intel Alder Lake-N series. For now, AYANEO has not set a release date for the AM02. By contrast, the AM01 will be available in 'mid to late November'. While pricing and a specific release date remain unknown for now, AYANEO has already listed the AM01 on Indiegogo in a preview state.
