AYANEO Pocket DMG teased as new vertically-orientated retro gaming handheld
AYANEO continues to unveil new products at a breakneck pace. For example, the company shared initial hands-on photos of the SLIDE in October, which it followed up a week later by teasing two versions of the FLIP. Today, it has now revealed more details about the latter, as well as a mini-PC series and a Retro Power Bank. Also, it has teased the Pocket DMG, another gaming handheld that AYANEO claims 'pays homage to timeless classic game consoles'.
As usual, AYANEO is remaining quiet about Pocket DMG hardware specifications for now. Instead, today's showcase serves to highlight a few external elements, such as its vertically orientated design. Unsurprisingly, AYANEO compared the Pocket DMG to the Game Boy in its launch event, the original version of which sold over 118 million units worldwide. However, there are plenty of vertically orientated competitors in the gaming handheld space, including the Analogue Pocket, plus various examples sold by Anbernic and Powkiddy.
Currently, AYA NEO has confirmed that the Pocket DMG has a d-pad, at least one analogue stick and four action buttons. Moreover, we can make out two front-facing buttons for START/SELECT, a small wheel, a few other function buttons and shoulder buttons mounted partway down the Pocket DMG like on the Analogue Pocket. Unfortunately, AYANEO has not divulged when it plans to reveal any more details about the Pocket DMG, let alone release it. Given that the company is only ready to show initial product renders, we imagine it could be a way into 2024 before AYANEO details the Pocket DMG fully.
