AYANEO AM01 mini-PC refreshed with new AMD Ryzen APU option for under $300
AYANEO has offered up a refresh of one of its recent product releases. While the Pocket S remains without a release date, the company has sought to update its mini-PC that it only started selling at the end of November 2023. Specifically, AYANEO has refreshed the AM01 with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U APU, which it has priced as follows:
- Barebones unit - $270
- 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage - $360
- 32 GB RAM/512 GB storage - $390
- 32 GB RAM/1 TB storage - $451
For context, AYANEO has sold the AM01 with the Ryzen 3 3200U and Ryzen 7 5700U until now. According to our benchmark database, the Ryzen 7 5800U is about 8% more powerful than the Ryzen 7 5700U while averaging about twice the performance of the Ryzen 3 3200U. It is worth noting that although the Ryzen 7 5800U contains newer Zen 3 (Cezanne-U) CPU cores than the Ryzen 7 5700U (Zen 2/Lucienne-U), the pair feature similar Radeon RX Vega 8 iGPUs that do not hold up well against their Radeon 680M and Radeon 780M successors.
Likewise, the Ryzen 7 5800U supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, just like the Ryzen 7 5700U. Currently, AYANEO hopes to begin shipping Ryzen 7 5800U orders next month. Please see the company's Indiegogo campaign page for more details.
