AYANEO AM01: New mini-PC launches for under US$150 with Macintosh inspired design

AYANEO has now launched the AM01, one of two mini-PCs that the company showcased a few weeks ago. In summary, the AYANEO AM01 owes its design to old Macintosh desktop PCs. However, while the mini-PC resembles a Macintosh Plus, it has been designed to lie flat rather than stand up.

Surprisingly, AYANEO has leaned into Apple's old design language, including nods to Apple's colourful logo that it used between 1977 and 1998 and the macOS Finder icon. For reference, the machine's colour stripe is actually a magnetic pin that can be replaced with others that AYANEO with each unit. According to AYANEO's Indiegogo campaign, all AM01 machines will also feature the following ports:

• 1x DisplayPort 1.4
• 1x HDMI 2.0
• 1x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet
• 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
• 3x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
• 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C

As expected, the AYANEO AM01 comes in two processor options, both older AMD APUs. Specifically, AYANEO offers Ryzen 3 3200U and Ryzen 7 5700U configurations, which are members of the Picasso-U and Lucienne-U series families, respectively. According to our database, the Ryzen 7 5700U is over twice as powerful as the Ryzen 3 3200U. In short, the Ryzen 7 5700U improves upon the Ryzen 3 3200U in all areas, which explains its 47% higher starting price. Please see the image below for full pricing details.
