10/10 from iFixit: Lenovo ThinkPad T14 G7 and ThinkPad T16 G5 star with Framework Laptop matching repairability

The ThinkPad T14 G7 and ThinkPad T16 G5 impressed us when we spent some time with them last week at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. While neither laptop is available to purchase yet, they have already been put through their paces by iFixit.
To recap, the T14 G7 and T16 G5 are Lenovo's first mainstream laptops to ship with LPCAMM2 RAM. Previously, this memory type was restricted to the ultra-expensive ThinkPad T1g Gen 8 (curr. $3,199 on Amazon). The return to user-upgradeable RAM comes as Lenovo has made the rest of its new ThinkPad T laptops more modular, too.

To that end, iFixit has awarded the T14 G7 and T16 G5 a 10/10 repairability score. Up from 9/10 for the T14 G6, the new scores see the T14 G7 and T16 G5 matching the Framework Laptop 13 and Framework Laptop 16. However, Lenovo's two new laptops are not without shortcomings when it comes to repairability.
For instance, some ports remain soldered to Lenovo's mainboards. Likewise, iFixit noted how improbable it would be to replace Wi-Fi modules or display components without dropping in a new display assembly. Overall though, iFixit's assessment tallies with our initial impressions. Please see our launch article for more hardware details about both the ThinkPad T14 G7 and ThinkPad T16 G5.
