TCL 34R83Q: Pricing and specifications revealed for new 170 Hz and Mini LED gaming monitor
TCL has dipped its toes into the gaming monitor space, having recently debuted huge TVs like the X11H and X955 Max. On the one hand, the company has created the 27R83U, full details of which we have covered separately. On the other hand, it has also unveiled the 34R83Q, a larger example that has a 1500R curvature.
As the likes of DisplaySpecifications and TFTCentral note, the TCL 34R83Q utilises a VA panel produced by CSOT, which TCL owns. Described by TCL as 'Fast-HVA' technology, the panel outputs at 3,440 x 1,440 pixels with an alleged 4,000:1 contrast ratio and 178/178-degree viewing angles. Additionally, the monitor supports a 170 Hz refresh rate with 1 ms GtG response times, as well as AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC technologies.
Moreover, the 34-inch panel is said to deliver 10-bit colour depth (8-bit+FRC), plus 95% Adobe RGB, 97% DCI-P3 and 99% sRGB colour space coverages. On top of that, the TCL 34R83Q boasts Pantone validation and factory calibration to Delta E <2 colour deviations. Supposedly, the panel delivers 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness thanks to its 1,152 Mini LED backlight zones, for which it has received VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification. While TCL has not revealed how much the 34R83Q costs yet or when it will be available, two French retailers are already selling the monitor for €1,199. For reference, the monitor includes the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 2x HDMI 2.1 (capabilities unknown)
- 2x USB Type-A
- 1x USB Type-C (90 W USB PD/DisplayPort Alt Mode)
