Samsung touts its new Odyssey G6 G60SF as a world-first as it is rated to achieve a 500 hertz (Hz) refresh rate with its OLED display. The 1440p peripheral also boasts a high peak brightness value for its matte display. It has now finally reached the US market - albeit with a breakneck price to match its speed.

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF has officially beaten the Philips Evnia 27M2N8500X, AOC AGON Pro AG276QKD2 and Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q5P to become the US market's first gaming monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate in an OLED panel.

The "cutting-edge" display also boasts Nvidia G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and a DisplayHDR 500 rating for its QHD panel. Samsung has also equipped it with a "Glare Free" finish to help the user "stay in the game" without distracting reflections.

The G60SF is available to order from Amazon or directly through Samsung.com from now - although there is a potential catch, and that would be the price.

The OEM has set its potentially ground-breaking new monitor at no less than $999.99 via either channel. Therefore, it might be worth holding out to see if the Evnia 27M2N8500X, AGON Pro AG276QKD2 or Aorus FO27Q5P (which all have the exact same up-to-1,000 nit, ~27-inch QD-OLED panel) can provide attractive alternatives soon.
