Asus has officially launched the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W and Strix OLED XG27AQWMG monitors in the US. Both use LG's new Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel, which is said to offer distinct advantages over 3rd- and 2nd-gen WOLED panels, such as improved brightness, wider color volume, and more.
Unlike other Tandem OLED monitors, the PG27AQWP-W and XG27AQWMG feature a glossy panel and a built-in proximity sensor, with the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W capable of boosting its refresh rate to a blistering 720Hz. However, although Asus says both models are available, we haven’t found any listings at major retailers so far.
Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W: 720Hz OLED gaming for $1,099
As we previously reported, the PG27AQWP-W has a native 540Hz refresh rate at 1440p but also offers a 720Hz mode at 720p resolution, making it a particularly impressive option for competitive gamers. Moreover, it features a 0.02 ms response time and DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 support, which means it can hit its maximum refresh rates without relying on DSC.
The PG27AQWP-W has an MSRP of $1099 in the US, which is surprisingly lower than in other regions, like China.
Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG: 280Hz OLED gaming for $599.99
The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG is a 27-inch 1440p monitor with a 280Hz maximum refresh rate. It competes directly with rivals such as the LG Ultragear 27GX700A-B (curr: $846.27 on Amazon) and the Gigabyte MO27Q28G. That said, the Asus model stands out with its TrueBlack Glossy coating, which is said to offer much better colors and contrast.
Asus has priced the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG at $599.99, making it more affordable than both the LG and Gigabyte offerings. The Gigabyte MO27Q28G has yet to launch in the US but is already available in the UK for £529.99 (~$698).
