We recently reviewed the OnePlus Nord CE 5, and our detailed review of the OnePlus Nord 5 wasn't published long ago either. Both are mid-range models from OnePlus, but they differ in price: while the OnePlus Nord 5 costs around $560, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is priced at around $320. This is a significant price difference, which naturally raises the question: is the OnePlus Nord 5 worth the extra cost?
Ratings surprise
In fact, OnePlus may have done well in recent years in only releasing a "Lite" model of its Nord CE series, because it turns out that the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is a very strong competitor to the OnePlus Nord 5 and even slightly outperforms it in certain metrics.
In terms of performance, the models are very similar. The camera systems are also virtually identical, apart from the high-resolution front camera of the OnePlus Nord 5 and the ability to take macro photos.
There's also a clear winner in regard to the screen
The OnePlus Nord CE 5 also has a brighter screen, even if the resolution is slightly lower. Sure, instead of the OnePlus Nord 5's maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz, you have to make do with 120 Hz on the cheaper smartphone. But will anyone really notice the difference in everyday life? Probably not.
Even when it comes to Wi-Fi speed, the two models aren't very different.
Differences that speak in favor of the Nord 5
The OnePlus Nord 5 offers wired reverse charging and stereo speakers. The back is also made of glass, which naturally feels a bit more premium than the plastic back of the Nord CE5.
Overall, however, it's impressive how minor the differences are between the two models, which have a price difference of over $200.
Verdict
Given the significant price difference and the fact that there isn't really that much difference in terms of performance and features, we would definitely recommend the OnePlus Nord CE 5 in terms of value for money.
