Another Macbook Air clone by iiView
This Singapore-based company has unveiled a 12” Mac clone
iiView, a Singapore-based notebook vendor, unveiled this new netbook called the A2 with a generous 12.1” display panel. The A2 has a 12.1” (1,280 x 800) display panel powered by a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU and Intel 945 chipset. You’ll get a 2GB RAM and a 320GB HDD as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and 2 USB ports. iiView has also thrown in a mini-HDMI port and a 2-in-1 headphone/mic jack. The system comes with a 60cell battery and Windows 7 RC1 with Vista Home Premium license. As the machine comes with Vista Home Premium license it is eligible for the free upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium when it launches on October 22.
Cyril Alonzo, chief executive officer of iiView, reportedly said that instead of making just another netbook to feed into the already saturated market, he aimed to create a desirable product. So he decided to take inspiration from another desirable mean-machine - the Macbook Air. The iiView A2 is a sleek Atom-based Mac-lookalike (even the monitor-out and USB port are hidden within a flip at the side) but at an affordable price-tag of around $699 Singapore dollar (US$467.78).
