SONY recollects 69,000 AC Notebook adapters

It has been reported, Sony, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, recalled about 69,000 Vaio adapters to prevent safety issues.

Four reports of the adapters short-circuiting were submitted to SONY. Nevertheless, no injuries or incidents were reported both in the U.S and the rest of the world. Sony said that it is the insulation that can fail over time.

Allegedly, all the affected adapters were sold from September 2005 to October 2009 and came with the Vaio VGC-LT series and VGC-JS2 series laptops. In addition, docking stations VGP-PRBX1 and VGP-PRFE1 are also on the list of products with the troublesome adapters.

Back in 2008, due to "irregularly positioned wires”, Sony recalled 73,000 Vaio notebooks.
