Taiwan notebook shipment to increase significantly in 2010
It is poised to increase atleast 13-26% in 2010
The Taiwan-based Quanta Computer, Wistron, Compal Electronics and Inventec, should see notebook shipments grow 13-26% in 2010, with Quanta and Wistron expected to enjoy the most significant growth – as reported by Digitimes.
Wistron has landed consumer notebook orders from Toshiba for the year. This is the first time Toshiba has given a contract to the Taiwan-based manufacturer - this is a clear change of trend.
Wistron has also received Dell's Vostro series models, whereas Latitude series enterprise notebook orders are shared by Quanta, Compal and Wistron. It should be noted that the Taiwanese notebook manufacturer is already Lenovo's main manufacturer in the year 2009 with order volumes surpassing those of both Quanta and Compal. Winstron in total will get three and two million units from HP and Lenovo respectively, plus orders from Toshiba – the new client.
Quanta grabbed around 40% of the notebooks manufacturing HP will outsource in 2010, plus orders from Lenovo, Apple and Sony, Digitimes said, adding Quanta is expected to ship 45-48 million notebooks in 2010.
Compal on the other hand, will grow only by around 13% due to stiff competition from Quanta and also the less commitment from HP.
Inventec will ship around 30% of HP's outsourcing for 2010, while Toshiba is also expected to increase its orders – as told by Digitimes.
