Gateway brings out a series of budget notebooks with decent configuration.
Gateway unveils the new UC series of affordable notebooks, of which the UC7807u is now available. It comes with a 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 CPU and 3GB RAM, which is pretty generous for a budget machine. Apart from a decently speedy 250GB hard drive at 5,400 rpm, it sports a GMA 4500MHD graphics card that won’t stop anyone from completing everyday tasks, but might prove inadequate for playing the latest 3D games. While adorning a 13.3” panel, it’s certainly not the lightest notebook around at 5.3 pounds.
The UC7807u is sleek, wears a glossy, putty-colored lid. A black, brushed metal chassis form the inside, a silver, brushed-metal hinge, responsive touch-sensitive volume and multimedia controls that glow red, and a circular touchpad. This is what laptopmag.com says about the battery,
“The biggest trade-off you make for the UC7807u’s low price is below-average endurance. The six-cell battery lasted 3:39 on the LAPTOP Battery Test, which is 49 minutes shorter than the typical thin-and-light. For instance, the latest MacBook lasted 4 hours and 45 minutes on the same battery test, and the Q310-34P lasted 4:41.”
But for a $799 machine, it looks and should work like a more expensive machine, as far as what the configuration says.
