Dell equips laptops with EV-DO / HSDPA
The Gobi dual-3G-chipset by Qualcomm enables users connecting to multiple 3G networks.
HP already did it, and now Dell also equips some of its notebooks with Qualcomm’s EV-DO/HSDPA chipset. The Gobi dual-3G-chipset by Qualcomm is going to be used in Dell’s Latitude, Precision, and in other Dell notebooks.
This chipset enables connecting to EV-DO and HSDPA-networks. It allows using different networks from diverse mobile network operators, and enables switching between data transfer protocols quickly and simply. This switching shall be as easy as flipping a software switch.
No word about availability of those notebooks, no word about exact notebook models, and certainly no word about prices so far.
