Laptops of travellers can get seized and withheld without any reason in the United States of America.

The news agency Reuters report, that travellers notebooks can get seized and withheld in the USA. This is possible without any suspicion. Furthermore, the laptops can be given to private companies or authorities for decrypting data.

This rule affects every travellers and every US citizens, because the Department of Homeland Security thinks that it is necessary to fight terrorism. The practise has not been executed for a long time, but it still exists.

Not only notebooks are affected, even USB sticks, hard disks, cell phones, iPods, pager, video and audio data, books, written material and flyers can get seized as well.
