The manufacturer NewerTech designed an adapter for connecting IDE/ATA and SATA devices to an USB port.
NewerTech USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter
NewerTech created a USB adapter for hard disks and optical drives. The USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter was designed for connecting normal 2.5”, 3,5” and 5.25” hard disks and optical drives to an USB port. It works with IDE/ATA and SATA devices. A power supply unit for connecting the devices to electricity is included as well. The adapter works with Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. Its price is $ 29.95,-.
