Asus is taking easy on Smartbooks

Says it is not keen in hurrying up in that front yet

Smartbook has been a hit this CES season as these lighter, smaller gadgets are winning hearts with their carry-me-around-always look. The star of the show is definately the Lenovo Skylight, but Marvell also unveiled a very competitive smartbook priced under $200.

Asus on the other hand, who arguably started the netbook revolution, is not in a hurry to shell out smartbooks like it is used to with netbooks. Netbooked reports of Chairman Jonney Shih stating that the company is not in a rush to launch smartbook products although the company is already developing related devices. Does he mean the tablets? Anyway you won’t get to see any Asus smartbook during CES 2010.

Shih’s main dissatisfaction is with the Linux platform the smartbooks run, he feels Windows is still a favourite and it will be hard to survive in the market with no Windows option.
