Rumor | Vivo's first-gen foldable smartphone will launch with 80W charging and a fair-sized battery
Vivo has stayed out of the flagship tier of the Android smartphone for a few years now, having abandoned its NEX series for this purpose in the process. The same line has been tipped for a comeback in 2022; however, it now seems that the OEM has decided to make the handset in question a new member of the X line instead.
This inaugural "X Note" is rumored to take on even the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with a premium 7-inch display. However, a decision to buy it might be made more difficult by the prospect of the "X Fold", now projected to launch alongside it as its maker's first ever flexible-display device.
The possibility of the 2 alleged top-end devices launching together or in close succession now might be backed up by the discovery of a Vivo V2178A on the 3C database alongside the V2170A, or "X Note". This, according to the leaker Digital Chat Station, is because they both support the same dual 66/80W fast-charging profile.
The eminent tipster also now asserts that the X Fold will launch with an 8-inch main display that will bend in the same way as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 or OPPO Find N. Digital Chat Station also mentions 2 different battery sizes (5,000mAh and 4,600mAh) in conjunction with the alleged 2022 Vivo flagships.
The larger is not likely to belong to the X Fold, to be honest. Nevertheless, should it truly launch with Vivo's latest power tech, it could make for the fastest-charging foldable on the market. This may be why it is now touted to do so at around the 10,000 yuan (~US$1,413) mark.
