The Dimensity 9000 is already projected to be the MediaTek processor that might get the closest to challenging, if not overcoming, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship in the history of its series. On its launch, it was projected to become available in the form of devices from 3 different Android brands: Redmi, OPPO and Vivo. Now, it is more likely that this is true for the last of those.
Han Boxiao, a product manager at Vivo, has published the (albeit translated) tantalizing hint via Weibo: "Nine thousand flagship? We're serious". This, then, can be taken as an indication that the OEM is working on a premium smartphone based on the upcoming MediaTek pretender to the crown.
It would make sense for Vivo to hop on the Dimensity bandwagon at this stage, with its sister brand OPPO on the brink of debuting the Find X5 Pro as the inaugural 9000-powered phone. MediaTek's own Weibo account has also just posted about how it is "looking forward" to this event, and touts the upcoming flagship as one with "super performance, ultra-low power consumption, and ultra-clear images" thanks to its new silicon.
