A famous Weibo-based leaker reports that Vivo has certified its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered 2022 flagship. This device has been said to launch as the NEX 5 - however, according to the prolific leaker, the OEM has decided on a new premium smartphone name instead. It is also now tipped to support 2 fast charging rates and to have a class-leading AMOLED display that might be larger than most.

Vivo's hints of a certain smartphone series' resurrection in 2022 has led to projections that the next top-end device to launch from this brand would be called the NEX 5. However, according to WHYLAB, this is not the case, as the OEM may have decided to follow a different trend with its flagship naming scheme instead.

Accordingly, the leaker asserts that this device will launch as the Vivo X Note instead. This might be more plausible should the phone launch with a relatively massive 7-inch display as suggested earlier - especially if it will truly be an E5 AMOLED display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

However, there are also rumors that this name might only apply to the Chinese market, with the same device launching as the NEX 10 Pro elsewhere. By any name, the upcoming handset has now reportedly passed through 3C testing as the Vivo V2170A, and supports high-end 80W charging in addition to the OEM's more usual 66W rate.
