New Vivo Pad specs leak and potential price show it shaping up to be a solid contender in the resurgent Android tablet market
Just as many were predicting the death of a large chunk of the Android tablet market, leaving mainstays like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series to offer competition against Apple’s iPad range at the premium end, a whole slew of manufacturers decided now is the time to start pumping new tablet products into the moribund scene. Xiaomi kicked things off with the Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro, Lenovo is busying itself with the 8.8-inch Legion Y700 tablet, and now we have more details about the upcoming Vivo Pad.
It had already been revealed that the Vivo Pad would come with an SD 870 and Digital Chat Station has some new information to share about the future tablet. It will apparently have a display capable of offering a gaming-friendly 120 Hz refresh rate, while the 7,680-mAh battery can expect to be quickly replenished when empty thanks to 44 W super-fast charging support. Apparently, Vivo is preparing the device to offer quick multi-connectivity with other products in its lineup aided by the presence of a tablet variant of OriginOS. In addition, a front-facing camera will purportedly be nestled inside one of the narrow bezels.
Last but not least, the well-known leaker touches upon the potential price for the Vivo Pad, with the suggestion that it will target the 2,000-yuan segment of the tablet market. That amount roughly equates to US$315/€278/£231, which would make the Vivo Pad very competitive, especially with the inclusion of the regarded Snapdragon 870 SoC. Obviously, those figures would be different (higher) in global markets, and it does seem likely Vivo will release the tablet outside its domestic market of China thanks to a 2021 appearance on the EUIPO website.
