Vivo has officially announced that its second-gen smartwatch exists and will launch in late December 2021. It is now scheduled to do so alongside the S12, a new Android smartphone that offers the Dimensity 1200 SoC in a profoundly iPhone-like chassis.

Vivo is rumored to contribute to the choice of round-faced smartwatches out there with its Watch 2, predicted to have a long-lasting battery and a version that supports its own 4G/LTE data via an eSIM. Now, the OEM has announced that this is in fact the case, and that the new wearable will launch soon. The event in question is also now slated to coincide with a debut for a new phone.

This is the S12, which, according to its latest render, has a notched display that is somewhat of a throwback in the Android world. Then again, it is possible Vivo was going for more of an iPhone vibe with this device, as it also has flat sides. Therefore, it does indeed look a bit like something from Apple, albeit with a new yellow-gold colorway.

Its by-now unusually wide notch is reportedly there to house a dual selfie camera, 1 or more of which might have a 50MP resolution. The Vivo S12 is also now said to have a 108MP sensor for a main rear camera, possibly joined by 2 others. This phone, slated to run the latest version of OriginOS ("Ocean"), will be unveiled in full alongside the Watch 2 on December 22, 2021.
