Vivo is now projected to launch 2 kinds of flagship phones this year: the X Note and the X Fold, the latter of which is tipped as more or less the foldable version of the former. Nevertheless, the Note is still touted as a good enough option for fans of content consumption, as it will break out of the typical ~6.7-inch bracket into which flagship phones seem to have fallen into this year thus far with a 7-inch panel instead.
That might be welcome news for some Vivo fans, although it might also imply concerns that the OEM might have to compromise on the X Note's screen quality in order to stretch to a display of this unusually large size. However, according to the well-regarded leakers WHYLAB and Digital Chat Station, this may not be the case after all.
The first tipster now claims to have run across a retail listing posted for the X Note in advance, with placeholder prices for its 12GB RAM/256GB storage and 12GB/512GB SKUs. The alleged page seems to set its design from earlier renders in stone, and also alludes to the 7-inch spec. It also indicates that the display will integrate one of the latest 3D ultrasonic type of fingerprint sensors.
That newer kind of sensor might confer a larger 'target' area for user print authentication and, thus, faster and more accurate unlocking. WHYLAB also asserts that the panel into which it will be set is made of the latest E5 material by Samsung, will have a 2K resolution and will be driven by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
Meanwhile, Digital Chat Station adds that it will have a 120Hz refresh rate. The Vivo X Note is also still expected to augment these specs with a large 5,000mAh battery and the ISOCELL GN1 as a primary camera sensor. As to its launch date, WHYLAB now intimates that it is most likely to take place in April 2022.
