A new research report has concluded that the market for wireless headphones worldwide will accrue a value of approximately US$42.1 billion over the next 6 years. This growth may be based on the demand for products that connect users to their smartphones, tablets or TVs, as well as using them while working out or consuming content.

A new report by Research and Markets indicates that the global wireless headphone market may grow by a compound rate (or CAGR) of approximately 21% every year until 2026, at which point it will be worth just over US$42 billion. Unsurprisingly, the OEMs likely to influence this progression include Apple, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser, Skullcandy and Sony.

The sector - which is defined as including general in-ear and on-ear forms of cable-less headphone types here - is thought to benefit from consumer demand for audio products that allow them to consume the content from their mobile or big-screen devices. On that note, multi-device pairing, active noise cancelling (ANC) and durability may be important specs that drive this market in the future.

The new report also suggests that the rising interest in and uptake of online shopping and high-quality audio in general may also influence the European region, particularly in countries such as Germany, Estonia and the UK. Finally, headphones geared at the fitness, entertainment and mixed reality industries may help the market to its estimated 2026 valuation.
