iReader releases e-reader with up to 65-hour battery life and 2TB storage support

The Boyuan keeps the same core hardware as the original Air 3 Pro, which launched in August 2026. The main change is the addition of a front light.

It features an 8.2-inch E Ink display with a 1,920 x 1,440-pixel resolution and 293 PPI. The new soft-light system offers 30 brightness levels and 30 color-temperature settings, while 256 Grayscale 3.0 technology provides smoother transitions between black, white and gray.

The device measures around 5.4mm (0.21 inches) thick and weighs approximately 270g (0.60 lb). It has an integrated CNC metal mid-frame and two customizable physical buttons that can be assigned to functions such as page turning, taking screenshots and returning to the home screen. Virtual back and AI shortcut buttons are also located below the display.

It uses an unspecified 6nm octa-core processor with a dedicated GPU, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded by up to 2TB using a TF/microSD card. The 2,600mAh battery is rated for up to 65 hours of reading and 18 days of standby, according to iReader.

The e-reader runs SmartOS 4.0 and supports third-party app optimization, along with PDF features such as reflow, watermark removal and layout switching.

For note-taking, the included X-Pen 5 Pro supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt recognition.

The internationally available Bigme B6 Pro has a 6-inch color E Ink display and weighs 176g, making it smaller and 94g lighter than the Boyuan. Bigme's model also runs Android 14 and supports 4G connectivity.

Pricing and availability

The iReader Air 3 Pro Boyuan tablet is priced at 2,799 yuan (around $418). That is 100 yuan ($15) more than the original Air 3 Pro, which launched in August for 2,699 yuan (around $403) without a front light. The Boyuan is currently available in China, with no international release details announced so far.
