Bigme Galy: 8-inch eReader launches with colour display and Google Play Store access
Bigme has brought the Galy to Kickstarter, an eReader that the company created in collaboration with Good e-Reader. For reference, the retailer has also listed the Bigme Galy on its website for US$699.99, plus shipping. However, the device is out of stock on Good e-Reader at the time of writing.
Conversely, the Bigme Galy is available on Kickstarter for approximately US$540 before shipping and taxes. While there is always a risk that successful crowdfunding campaigns do not yield any products for backers, Bigme and Good e-Reader are established companies. Currently, Bigme Galy orders are expected to start shipping in February 2023, regardless of whether you ordered the device from Good e-Reader or Kickstarter.

Details here
At the heart of the Bigme Galy is an 8-inch Gallery 3 colour E Ink display, which resolves at 1,920 x 1,440 pixels with a 300 PPI pixel density. Additionally, the device has an integrated front light that supports 36 brightness levels, as well as an adjustable colour temperature for reading content in varying lighting conditions. Moreover, the display supports touch and pen inputs, with up to 4,096 pressure levels for the latter.
Furthermore, the Bigme Galy offers four display modes that vary screen refresh rates at the cost of some artefacts. For example, the device’s Speed mode will refresh the display in 500 ms, compared to the 1.5-seconds that it takes in HD mode. In comparison, the Bigme Galy can refresh the display in B&W mode at 350 ms. Separately, the Bigme Galy relies on 6 GB of RAM, an octa-core processor and a 3,000 mAh battery. More details about the Bigme Galy can be found on Good e-Reader or the device’s Kickstarter campaign.
