Asus has consolidated its TUF gaming lineup at CES 2024. The TUF Gaming F16 will be the only one of its kind to launch with a Core i7-13650HX, 32 GB RAM and a 2 TB SSD.

After introducing several new SKUs like the ROG Strix Scar G18 and G18, Asus has decided to cut down on some of its budget-focused laptops. The TUF Gaming series is typically launched with two F SKUs; this time, only the TUF Gaming F16 will see the light of day. Asus has also implemented some interesting cost-cutting measures, which we'll talk about it in a bit.

The Asus TUF Gaming F16 offers two resolutions for its 16-inch screen: FHD (1,920 x 1,080) and QHD (2,560 x 1,440). Both refresh at 165 Hz, have a response time of 3 ms and cover 100% of the sRGB colour gamut. The gaming laptop measures 35 x 25 x 2.8 cm, weighs 2.27 kg and draws power from a 90 Wh battery.

Asus has opted to power the TUF Gaming F16 with an Intel Core i7-13650HX Raptor Lake processor. It is still a competent performer, and that's why Asus may have picked it over the new 14th-generation HX chips (and hopefully passed on the savings to the customer). It is paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 (130 W). Effectively, there is only one TUF Gaming F15 SKU, which isn't necessarily bad.

The Asus TUF Gaming F16 comes with up to 32 GB of DDR5 4,600 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD. Despite its position as a mid-range offering, the laptop includes one Thunderbolt 4.0 port, joined by one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port, a HDMI 2.1 port and an ethernet jack. Wireless connectivity interfaces are limited to Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
